A private family with multiple international residences is seeking an experienced Lead Housekeeper to join their large household team in Central London. The family’s properties are maintained to the highest standard year-round, with each residence supported by a resident house manager and local housekeeping team. The position is working 4 weeks on/off.
During peak seasons, principally summer and the Christmas period, the position is intensive and fast-paced, requiring impeccable standards, physical stamina, and a professional manner. Outside of peak season, the workload is lighter and structured around shift patterns alongside the resident lead housekeeper at each property. Occasional international travel may be required, primarily to properties in Europe and America.
Responsibilities of the Lead Housekeeper in Central London + occasional travel, include:
- Maintaining all properties to an immaculate standard throughout the family’s residency
- Working closely with the resident house manager and local housekeeping team at each property to ensure a seamless service
- Undertaking all housekeeping duties to a five-star standard
- Preparing guest rooms and private quarters ahead of arrivals, and restoring them to full standard following departures
- Caring for fine china, silverware, crystal, and decorative items
- Supporting the household team with formal entertaining
- Liaising with suppliers, laundry services, and external contractors as directed by the house manager
- Caring for the family’s four dogs with confidence and ease
- Travelling internationally as required during peak periods, principally to properties in Europe and New York, and occasionally the Middle East
- Maintaining a professional and discreet presence at all times
- Demonstrable experience in a UHNW private household/superyacht/luxury hospitality setting
- A meticulous eye for detail and an innate sense of how a well-run household should look and feel
- Physically fit and able to sustain a high level of activity
- Highly organised and dynamic, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt quickly to changing requirements
- Comfortable working as part of a team structure and taking direction from a senior house manager
- Confident and capable around large dogs of varying breeds
- A professional, discreet manner and absolute commitment to confidentiality
- Right to work in the UK and a full, clean DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
- Excellent spoken and written English
This is a live-out position, so candidates must live within a reasonable commute of Central London.
Accommodation will be provided during periods of travel.
Central London, UK + travel to Europe, America and occasionally the Middle East.
The role operates on a 4 weeks on / off rotation. During working periods, the position is full-time.
During peak seasons (summer and Christmas), this is a full-time role, usually involving 8–10 hours of work per day with one day off each week.
Outside peak periods, hours reduce to match the family’s schedule and are arranged on a shift basis with the resident lead housekeeper at each property.
Working patterns will be discussed and confirmed with the successful candidate. Flexibility is essential for this role.
£65,000.
