We are looking for a dependable and hands-on SENIOR Operator/ Technician to join our team running the Brains Farm biogas facility near Wincanton.
At the plant, we turn agricultural organic material into renewable gas, heat, and electricity. This is a varied, active role where you will play a key part in the UK’s transition to green energy. We are committed to your growth and will provide specialised training—both on-site and online—to help you become an expert in biogas operations.

- Responsibility: As Senior Operator you will be able to fill-in on day-to-day tasks and responsibilities for the Operations Manager for short periods and act as a senior leadership figure to other operators and contractors on site.
- Machinery: Using a telehandler/front-end loader to feed the plant (full training provided if you have the aptitude).
- Maintenance: Carrying out light maintenance, cleaning equipment, and maintaining a high standard of site housekeeping.
- Logistics: Operating the weighbridge, sampling materials, and managing spare parts stock.
- Monitoring and Data Entry: monitor the plant, undertake sampling and testing, diligently and accurately record and report observations and results
Working Hours & Rota
- Standard Hours: The plant is a 24/7 operation - with standard "opening hours" between 0700 and 1800. During harvests the site will be open longer
- Rota: You will be required to work weekends on a shared rota basis with your team.
- On-Call: Once you are fully trained, you will join the on-call rota to respond to alarms and faults. Overtime and call-out fees are paid in addition to your salary.
There is plenty of scope and opportunity for overtime hours/ pay.
