Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Adoption Social Worker to join our team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting children and families throughout the inter-country adoption process, ensuring that children find safe and loving homes. This paid position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of vulnerable children and their families, working within a supportive and professional environment.
The pay is the FTE to £41,000.00 per annum.
Duties
- Conduct assessments of prospective adoptive parents to evaluate their suitability and readiness for adoption
- Facilitate home visits and organise meetings with children, families, and relevant professionals
- Provide guidance and support to children and families throughout the adoption journey
- Prepare detailed reports and documentation in compliance with legal and organisational requirements
- Offer post-placement support to ensure successful integration of adopted children into their new homes
- Collaborate with external agencies, social services, and legal professionals to coordinate care plans
- Advocate for the best interests of children at all times, ensuring their needs are prioritised
- Promote and embed culturally responsive, anti-discriminatory and anti-racist practice throughout the agency, ensuring that children's cultural, ethnic, religious and identity needs are recognised and addressed throughout their adoption journey and beyond.
- Ensure services are delivered with a clear understanding of the lifelong implications of adoption, including issues relating to loss, trauma, attachment, displacement, identity, belonging, contact and reconnecting with birth family members where appropriate.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with local authorities, Regional Adoption Agencies, CoramBAAF, the Department for Education, overseas authorities, adoption support providers and other relevant stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Proven experience working with children, demonstrating empathy and understanding of their needs
- Relevant qualification in social work or social care
- Degree in Social Work
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases effectively
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Commitment to safeguarding principles and ethical practice in all aspects of work
- Experience of adoption related work
