Main purpose of job: Responsible for keeping a fleet of vessels in optimal condition through regular maintenance, repairs, and inspections. This includes servicing diesel engines, associated electrical systems, and other mechanical components. Projects are to be managed from start to finish and are to be completed on time, within budget and in accordance with health and safety legislation.

Key Responsibilities:
- Routine Maintenance: Performing tasks like oil changes, filter replacements, and system checks
- Engine Service and Repair: Diagnosing and repairing both inboard and outboard engines.
- Electrical System Maintenance: replacing basic electrical equipment, including lighting, batteries, engine sensors and starter motors.
- Mechanical System Maintenance: Servicing and repairing various mechanical systems, such as steering, hydraulics, and propulsion.
- Customer Interaction: Ensuring internal / external customers receive a positive experience
- Breakdown Assistance: Responding to breakdowns and providing on-the spot repairs or assistance.
- Inventory Management: Maintaining adequate supplies of parts and materials for repairs and maintenance.
- Hauling and Launching: Assisting with the hauling and launching of boats for maintenance and repairs.
- Tasks Management: Manage work in accordance with priority, ensuring that tasks are completed, signed off and documented
- Health and Safety: Adhere to health and safety at all times and report any hazards and faulty equipment

Skills
- Knowledge / experience of diesel engines
- Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical problems
- Experience in welding and fabrication
- Good customer service skills
- Ability to work with hand and power tools
- A willingness to develop within the organisation and take part in training relevant to the role (including risk assessments etc)
- A full UK driving licence and willingness to drive company vehicles.
Location
Based in workshops in Bowness on Windermere with a requirement to attend other sites (Ambleside, Lakeside and other company sites around Windermere) to service vessels and to attend breakdowns etc, using company vehicles (Land Rover and/or van).
Hours of Work
Hours of work based on approximately 39 hours per week with rostered ‘on call’ duties to cover 7 days/week as part of a 3-person team at busy periods (school holidays, bank holidays etc). During ‘on call’ days and weekends, lone working is necessary both in the workshops and on sites.
Rate of Pay
Annual salary: £42,000 Appointment is subject to a three-month probation period
