Overview
Colours of Arley is a British printed textile and interiors brand. We print our own fabric and make everything to order in the UK — no stock, no waste, no two orders quite the same. Our customers choose their own colour combinations from a palette of 120, which means every day on the workroom floor looks different from the last.
We're growing quickly, and we're looking for an experienced seamstress to join us full-time making cushions, tablecloths and the rest of our sewn range. This is a hands-on making role in a small team, suited to someone who takes real pride in the quality of what leaves the building. Because our work is bespoke, precision matters — a cushion in someone's chosen colours is going into a home they've thought hard about, and it needs to look like it.
You'd be working directly with the founder and the wider production team, with genuine scope to shape how we make things as we scale. If you like the idea of joining a growing business early enough to influence how it works, this is that moment.
Responsibilities
- Cutting and sewing cushions, tablecloths, napkins and other made-to-order products to spec
- Working from measurements and order sheets, ensuring every piece matches the customer's specification for size, colourway and finish
- Matching stripes and patterns accurately across seams, panels and piping
- Constructing to a consistently high standard — even seams, secure finishing, clean edges, correctly inserted zips and trims
- Quality-checking your own work and flagging any fabric faults or print issues before a piece goes further down the line
- Pressing and preparing finished items for packing
- Managing your own workflow against order deadlines, and raising anything at risk of running late
- Keeping your workstation and equipment clean, safe and well maintained
- Helping refine our making processes and templates as we grow, and supporting the introduction of new products
- Occasionally supporting with sampling, prototypes and one-off commissions
