HS2, Britain’s new high-speed railway is at peak construction. Balfour Beatty VINCI is HS2’s construction partner in the Midlands, responsible for delivering 90km of the route, from Long Itchington in Warwickshire to the centre of Birmingham and on to Handsacre in Staffordshire.

Current Opportunity: MEP General Foreperson
Location: Based in Birmingham - the Central Region runs from the east of Birmingham into the city centre, comprising Sublot Delta, 1B, 4 and 5S. More than 50% of the structures within IPT Area North are located in the Central Region. This region, which covers a complex urban environment, also includes the 3.5 mile twin bore Bromford Tunnel. It also includes Interchange Station, as well as crossing three major highways (A45, M6 and M42).
Key Accountabilities:
- Lead and coordinate daily MEP construction activities across designated project areas.
- Supervise site supervisors, forepersons, operatives and subcontractors, ensuring safe and productive working practices.
- Ensure all MEP works are delivered in accordance with project specifications, drawings, quality standards and programme requirements.
- Maintain the highest standards of Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality (HSEQ) compliance across all activities.
- Plan and coordinate labour, plant, materials and temporary works requirements.
- Conduct daily briefings, toolbox talks, inspections and safety tours.
- Monitor progress against programme milestones and implement corrective actions where required.
- Coordinate interfaces between MEP, civil, structural, architectural and rail systems teams.
- Review permits, method statements, risk assessments and work package plans before work commences.
- Support testing, commissioning and handover activities to achieve project completion objectives.
- Identify and escalate risks, constraints and opportunities for improvement.
Maintain accurate site records, progress reports and quality documentation.

Essential Experience:
- Proven experience as a General Foreperson, Senior Foreperson or Site Supervisor delivering MEP works on large-scale construction, rail or infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health systems installation and construction methodologies.
- Experience managing subcontractors and coordinating multidisciplinary construction teams.
- Demonstrable leadership and people-management skills.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications and work packages.
- Strong planning, organisational and communication skills.
- Thorough knowledge of UK construction health, safety and environmental legislation.
CSCS Card and relevant construction or engineering qualification.
