Job Summary
Lore Lovis is a London-based contemporary jewellery brand looking for talented Junior Jewellery Designers with CAD skills to contribute to the development of new jewellery products and collections.
You will work closely with the founder to translate creative briefs, meanings and visual references into distinctive contemporary jewellery concepts, developing selected ideas from initial sketches through to detailed 3D CAD designs.
We are looking for designers who can think beyond the first idea, explore multiple creative directions and progressively refine concepts into strong, wearable and manufacturable jewellery pieces.
Responsibilities
- Develop original jewellery concepts from creative briefs, meanings and visual references
- Produce sketches and visual concepts for pendants, necklaces, rings, earrings and bracelets
- Explore multiple design directions for each brief rather than developing a single solution
- Develop and refine selected concepts through feedback and design reviews
- Develop selected designs into detailed 3D CAD models
- Create accurate technical drawings, dimensions and specifications for manufacturing
- Consider proportion, form, scale, wearability, materials and construction throughout the design process
- Refine CAD models following design reviews, prototyping and manufacturing feedback
- Prepare clear design and CAD files for production
- Collaborate with manufacturers to help resolve design and technical considerations
- Research materials, finishes, construction methods and relevant jewellery references
- Maintain organised design files, iterations and development work
Requirements
- Degree or relevant training in Jewellery Design, Product Design, 3D Design or a related discipline
- Strong jewellery design and concept-development skills
- Strong hand-sketching and/or digital drawing ability
- Experience using jewellery CAD software such as Rhino, MatrixGold, RhinoGold or equivalent
- Ability to develop a concept from initial exploration through to a detailed 3D model
- Good understanding of jewellery materials, construction and manufacturing principles
- Strong understanding of form, proportion, scale and three-dimensional design
- Ability to develop multiple creative directions from the same brief
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to refine designs through feedback
- Rendering and visualisation skills are desirable
- Strong portfolio demonstrating jewellery design and CAD/3D work
- Recent graduates with strong portfolios are encouraged to apply
