Burford Surgery is expanding and is seeking an experienced part time receptionist to join our friendly team. Previous experience within a GP practice is desirable. Applicants must be able to demonstrate excellent I.T. skills, have strong communication skills along with the ability to pay attention to detail. They must also be able to adapt easily to changes within the NHS and cope with the high level of demand of working on a busy reception desk.
24-30 hour per week.
Overtime to cover annual leave would also be required.
Job Description
Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way.
Provide general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.
- To have a thorough knowledge of all practice procedures
- To work in accordance of written protocols
- Pulling/filing notes for surgeries and updating as necessary
- Filing post in medical records
- Receiving patients, consulting with members of practice team
- Be able to cover all reception position as necessary
- Process appointment requests for today/future appointments from patients by telephone and in person.
- Registrations of new patients – computer data entry and medical records
- Action daily emails and tasks
- Process patients’ changes of address – computer data and medical records (have knowledge of practice area)Telephone
- Have working knowledge of telephone system, during and after hours
- Clear rooms after surgeries.Ensure building security – have thorough knowledge of doors/windows/alarm
- Any other tasks allocated by managers
