Job Overview
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Yard Operative/Forklift Driver to join our team. This role involves managing materials, operating forklift trucks. The successful candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge, be capable of heavy lifting, and have prior warehouse experience. This is a paid position suitable for individuals committed to maintaining high standards of safety and productivity within a busy environment.
Basic Mig welding and flame cutting an advantage
Duties
- Operate forklift trucks safely and efficiently to load, unload, and move materials within the yard and warehouse
- Assist with shipping and receiving activities, ensuring accurate documentation and handling of goods
- Conduct basic equipment repairs and maintenance checks on forklifts and other machinery as required
- Handle materials with care, ensuring proper stacking, storage, and organisation of goods
- Assist with general yard duties including loading/unloading lorries, moving pallets, and maintaining cleanliness of the work area
- Apply mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot minor equipment issues to minimise downtime
- Painting either roller or spraying of large tanks
- Welding (MIG) and advantage
Requirements
- forklift licence with experience operating various types of forklift trucks
- Knowledge of equipment repair and basic mechanical skills
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely (up to 25kg or more)
- Good organisational skills with attention to detail when managing stock records and inventory movements
- Basic maths skills for counting, measuring, and recording data accurately
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform minor repairs on equipment when necessary
- Strong work ethic with a focus on safety standards and procedures
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
Pay: £24,420.00-£39,480.85 per year
