At Aquarius Home Improvements, we are not just looking to fill a role, we are looking for the right person to become an important part of our team and help us deliver the level of service our customers expect.
Our reputation has been built on Amazing Service, Amazing Quality and Amazing Prices, and we work hard to maintain those standards throughout every project we complete.
Based in Ilkeston, we work throughout Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire, providing high-quality bathroom, kitchen, bedroom and home improvement installations.
We are looking for a Technical Surveyor & Installation Coordinator who can combine practical knowledge of home improvements with excellent organisation, communication and customer service skills.
This is a varied role combining customer visits, technical surveys, job planning and supporting our office and installation teams to ensure projects run smoothly from survey through to completion.
This is not a role for someone who simply wants to complete surveys and hand information back to the office. We are looking for someone who takes ownership, identifies problems early and helps make sure every installation is properly prepared.
IMPORTANT - THIS IS NOT A SALES DESIGNER ROLE
Please note that this position is different from many bathroom or kitchen "surveyor/designer" roles within the industry.
At Aquarius, the customer has already chosen to work with us and the project has already been sold before the survey stage.
This role is not about:
- Generating new sales leads
- Designing rooms to win customers
- Carrying out showroom-style consultations
- Selling projects from scratch
Your role is to ensure the project that has already been sold can be installed correctly.
You will be responsible for checking technical details, identifying potential issues, confirming requirements and making sure both the customer and installation team have everything they need before work begins.
There will be opportunities to recommend upgrades, improvements or additional works where they genuinely benefit the customer or installation, but sales is not the main purpose of this role.
THE ROLE
You will be responsible for:
- Carrying out technical surveys for bathrooms, kitchens, bedrooms and other home improvements
- Checking that proposed installations are practical and achievable
- Identifying potential issues before installation begins
- Confirming measurements, access requirements, existing services and technical details
- Producing accurate survey information for the office and installation teams
- Communicating clearly with customers before, during and after the survey process
- Supporting the installations manager with job planning and problem solving
- Helping ensure installers have the correct information, materials and expectations before arriving on site
- Supporting the office team with customer communication and general job coordination
THE PERSON WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for someone who is organised, practical and enjoys taking responsibility.
You may come from a background in:
- Bathroom or kitchen installations
- Home improvements
- Construction
- Technical surveying
- Showroom environments
- Installation coordination
- Customer-facing roles within the building industry
Experience is important, but equally important is your attitude and willingness to get involved.
The successful candidate will:
- Be confident dealing with customers face-to-face
- Communicate professionally with customers, installers and office staff
- Be comfortable working both on site and in an office environment
- Be organised and able to manage multiple jobs at different stages
- Have good attention to detail
- Be able to identify problems and find practical solutions
- Take ownership rather than waiting for others to resolve issues
- Be comfortable using computers, email and digital systems
PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS WE REQUIRE
At Aquarius, every member of the team represents our company.
You must:
- Be professional, approachable and presentable at all times
- Communicate clearly and respectfully
- Follow company procedures and standards
- Provide customers with confidence and reassurance
- Work closely with the wider team to deliver excellent results
- Understand that accurate information and communication are just as important as technical knowledge
THIS ROLE MAY NOT SUIT YOU IF:
- You are looking for a purely site-based role
- You do not enjoy administration or using computer systems
- You prefer working alone without regular communication with the wider team
- You see surveying as simply measuring rooms and passing information on
- You are uncomfortable speaking with customers or handling problems
- You are looking for a sales designer position
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Full UK driving licence (maximum 6 points)
- Experience within bathrooms, kitchens, home improvements, construction or a related industry
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities
- Practical understanding of how installations work
- Comfortable using technology and learning new systems
- Local to Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire or Leicestershire as all work is within approximately 35 miles of our Ilkeston base
WHAT WE OFFER
- Full-time PAYE employment with holidays, pension and full employment benefits
- Salary of £35,000 to £40,000 depending on experience and suitability
- Company vehicle provided
- Stable, long-term position with a growing local company
- All work within approximately 35 miles of our Ilkeston head office
- A varied role combining technical site work, customer interaction and office responsibility
- The opportunity to play an important role in improving how projects are delivered
If you are looking for a role where you can use your practical knowledge, organisation skills and customer experience to help deliver outstanding home improvements, we would like to hear from you.
Pay: £30,000.00-£40,000.00 per year
Benefits:
