Job Overview
We are seeking a friendly and efficient Coffee Shop Assistant & Cook to join our vibrant team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering excellent customer service, preparing a variety of food and drinks, and maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety. It’s important that you have kitchen experience in a ‘hot kitchen’ environment to prepare breakfast and lunches and you are over 18 as we also serve alcohol. This role offers an engaging environment where you can develop your skills in food preparation and customer interaction while contributing to a welcoming atmosphere for our customers.
Duties
- Prepare and serve a range of hot and cold beverages, including coffee, tea, and alcoholic drinks, ensuring quality standards are met.
- Assist in the preparation of food items such as breakfast, sandwiches, salads, and baked goods, adhering to food safety regulations.
- Serve customers efficiently at the counter or via table service, providing friendly and attentive assistance.
- Maintain cleanliness of the work area, including cleaning equipment, utensils, and surfaces regularly.
- Manage stock levels and assist with inventory checks to ensure availability of ingredients and supplies.
- Handle cash transactions accurately using the till system, giving correct change and processing payments.
- Follow health and safety procedures diligently to ensure a safe environment for both staff and customers.
- Support team members during busy periods to ensure smooth operations.
Skills
- Knowledge of food safety standards and best practices in hygiene.
- Previous barista experience is desirable but not essential; training will be provided for the right candidate.
- Experience in serving customers with professionalism and friendliness.
- Ability to prepare food items efficiently while maintaining high quality standards.
- Basic maths skills for handling cash transactions accurately.
- Good time management skills to prioritise tasks effectively during busy periods.
