Schools Mutual Services is working in partnership with a Birmingham School to recruit a reliable and confident Receptionist / School Administrator to provide office cover at the start of the new academic year.
This assignment will begin on Tuesday 1 September 2026 and is expected to provide cover for the first few weeks of the academic year while pre-employment checks are completed for a new member of staff.
The role would suit an experienced administrator, receptionist or school office professional who can quickly become familiar with new systems, communicate confidently with parents and staff, and support the smooth day-to-day running of a busy school office.

What you'll be doing
As a Receptionist / School Administrator, you will play an important role in ensuring the school office operates efficiently and provides a welcoming and professional service to parents, pupils, staff and visitors.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Using the Arbor MIS system to support school administration
- Welcoming and assisting parents and visitors at the school office window
- Answering, screening and directing telephone calls
- Responding to parent queries in a professional and helpful manner
- Carrying out general school administration and office duties
- Supporting the day-to-day running of the school office
- Maintaining accurate records and information
- Supporting school staff with administrative tasks as required
- Following school procedures relating to safeguarding, confidentiality and data protection
- Providing a friendly, professional and efficient first point of contact for the school
What we're looking for
We are keen to hear from organised, reliable and professional administrators who are confident working in a busy front-office environment.
You should have:
- Previous experience in reception, administration, school administration or a similar role
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A friendly, professional and approachable manner
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Confidence answering and directing telephone calls
- The ability to communicate effectively with parents, staff and visitors
- Good IT skills and the ability to learn new systems quickly
- The ability to remain calm and professional in a busy environment
- A proactive and flexible approach to work
- The confidence to work independently when required
- A strong understanding of confidentiality and safeguarding
