Join Our Patient Transport Service Team
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Patient Transport Service Team Leader to join our operational team based at our Chester location.
As a Team Leader, you will be responsible for the leadership, support, and operational management of your designated team of Ambulance Care Assistants, ensuring they deliver safe, compassionate, and professional patient transport services.
Working a 3 days on / 3 days off shift pattern, this is a key operational role focused on supporting frontline teams, maintaining high standards of care, and ensuring the effective delivery of daily transport services.
The Role
As a Patient Transport Service Team Leader, you will take responsibility for your allocated team of Ambulance Care Assistants, providing effective leadership, guidance, and support to ensure operational and patient care standards are consistently achieved.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading and supporting your designated team of Ambulance Care Assistants
- Providing day-to-day operational guidance, coaching, and support to team members
- Monitoring team performance, attendance, conduct, and compliance with company standards
- Ensuring staff deliver safe, respectful, and patient-focused care at all times
- Supporting the effective allocation and completion of patient transport duties
- Identifying and addressing operational issues, escalating where appropriate
- Conducting regular team communications, briefings, and welfare checks
- Supporting training, development, and continuous improvement within your team
- Promoting a positive culture of teamwork, professionalism, and accountability
- Working closely with operational management and control functions to maintain service delivery
About You
You will be an experienced operational professional with the ability to lead and motivate a team in a busy healthcare environment. You will have a strong understanding of the importance of delivering high-quality patient care and supporting colleagues to achieve the best outcomes.
You will have:
- Experience supervising or leading a team, ideally within patient transport, ambulance services, healthcare, or a similar operational environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to support, motivate, and develop team members
- A calm and organised approach when managing operational challenges
- A strong commitment to patient safety, dignity, and quality of care
Experience as an Ambulance Care Assistant or within Patient Transport Services would be highly desirable.
