The Federation of Damp is a training, certification and membership body for the damp and waterproofing industry. We certify surveyors and technicians, and we support a growing membership of damp and waterproofing businesses across the UK.
Our three City & Guilds Assured courses — FODCS Online, FODCS Classroom and FODCT Technician — are how contractors and surveyors prove they know what they're doing. Alongside training, we run a membership scheme that gives businesses the credibility, support and standards framework they need to win better work.
This is a growing organisation with a lot of momentum, and this role sits right at the heart of it.
The role
You will own sales for the Federation of Damp.
That means converting the enquiries that come in from our ads, website and email campaigns into course bookings and memberships — and then going out and finding more. You'll be talking to damp proofing contractors, surveyors, building companies and tradespeople every day, understanding where they are in their career or business, and matching them to the right course or membership.
Alongside that, you'll keep the back office running: enrolling students, processing memberships, handling renewals and keeping our records straight.
If you want a role where you're on the phone all day and nothing else, this isn't it. If you want ownership of a whole function in a business that's growing quickly, it is.
What you'll be doing
Sales
- Handling inbound enquiries from phone, email, website and social media
- Understanding what each enquirer actually needs and recommending the right course or membership tier
- Converting enquiries into booked course places and paid memberships
- Following up leads and quotes that haven't converted — persistently and professionally
- Outbound calls to damp proofing and waterproofing businesses to introduce certification and membership
- Working leads generated by our email campaigns and advertising
- Building relationships with businesses so they come back for further training and renew year on year
- Hitting monthly targets for course bookings and new members
Membership and account management
- Onboarding new members and making sure they get value from day one
- Managing the renewals cycle and chasing lapsed members
- Being the point of contact for member questions
- Spotting opportunities to move members into higher tiers or additional training
Admin
- Enrolling delegates onto courses and managing course logistics
- Issuing certificates and maintaining accurate certification records
- Processing payments, raising invoices and chasing outstanding balances
- Keeping the CRM clean and up to date
- General administrative support across the business
What we're looking for
Essential
- Experience in a sales role where you were responsible for hitting targets
- Confident on the phone, including with people who weren't expecting your call
- Strong written English — you'll be writing to members and businesses every day
- Genuinely organised, with real attention to detail
- Able to switch between selling and administration without either one slipping
- Comfortable with CRM systems and picking up new software quickly
- Right to work in the UK without sponsorship
Desirable
- Experience selling training, certification, memberships or subscriptions
- Background in construction, property, trades or a related industry
- Experience with GoHighLevel or a similar CRM and marketing platform
You don't need to know anything about damp — we'll teach you that. You do need to be able to sell, and you do need to be organised.
What we offer
- £28,000 – £30,000 basic depending on experience
- Commission on course bookings and new memberships — realistic OTE £10,000 -£15,000
- Full training on the industry and our certification courses
- Real ownership — this is the sales function, not a seat in a sales team
- Clear progression as the business grows
Pay: £40,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
Application question(s):
- Do you have the right to work in the UK without sponsorship?
- How many years have you worked in a sales role with monthly targets?
- Are you comfortable working from our office 5 days per week?
- This role is roughly 70% sales and 30% administration. Which half do you enjoy more, and why?
