Overview
We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Student Pastoral Tutor to support the wellbeing, development and academic success of 16–19-year-old students within a college environment. This vital role involves fostering a positive environment where students feel valued, supported, and motivated to reach their full potential. The ideal candidate will bring enthusiasm, strong communication skills, and a genuine passion for working with young people to help them navigate academic and personal challenges effectively.
Duties
- Provide one-on-one and group pastoral support to students, addressing their emotional and social needs.
- Develop and implement tailored pastoral programs that promote student well-being, resilience, and positive behavior.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external agencies to create comprehensive support plans for students requiring additional assistance.
- Monitor student progress and behavior, maintaining detailed records of interventions and outcomes.
- Facilitate workshops or activities focused on social skills, mental health awareness, and personal development.
- Assist in creating an inclusive school environment that celebrates diversity and promotes equality.
- Support students in developing effective study habits, time management skills, and goal-setting strategies.
Requirements
- Proven experience in tutoring or teaching roles, preferably with a focus on pastoral care or student support.
- Experience working with children or young people in educational or community settings.
- Excellent communication skills to engage effectively with students, parents, teachers, and external professionals.
- Ability to demonstrate empathy, patience, and active listening skills in sensitive situations.
- A relevant qualification in education, counselling, social work or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.
