Job Summary
We are recruiting an experienced Mental Health Inpatient Nurse to support an NHS Mental Health Service.
The role involves autonomous assessment, planning and delivery of high-quality nursing care for adults within an acute or rehabilitation inpatient mental health setting. The post holder must be confident working within a fast-paced multidisciplinary environment, managing complex mental health presentations and promoting recovery-focused care.
This is locum work, with forward planning available and regular opportunities to secure shifts in advance.
Key Responsibilities
Comprehensive assessment of mental state, risk and care needs
Development and implementation of person-centred care plans
Safe administration and management of medication in line with policy
Ongoing risk assessment and contribution to safeguarding processes
Management of acute mental health presentations and behavioural disturbances
Accurate and timely clinical documentation in line with service standards
Working collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team
Adherence to NHS policies, safeguarding procedures and clinical governance
Essential Requirements
NMC-registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN)
Proven experience within NHS mental health inpatient services
Experience managing complex and acute mental health presentations
Ability to work autonomously and manage a defined caseload
Strong assessment, communication and documentation skills
Enhanced DBS
Right to work in the UK
Desirable
Experience within acute wards, PICU or rehabilitation settings
Knowledge of the Care Programme Approach (CPA)
Experience in leadership or shift coordination
Previous NHS inpatient experience
