BANK EARLY YEARS PRACTITIONER
Acorns Early Years Centre is a charity run nursery offering childcare to children aged 5 months - 5 years. We also have a after school and Holiday Club. We are looking for a dedicated individual to join our growing Bank staff team.
We are looking for a dedicated and reliable individual to join our growing bank staff team. We have established our own team of trusted early years practitioners who provide consistent, high-quality care across our nursery.
A childcare qualification is not essential, although previous experience working with children is highly beneficial, and those with relevant qualifications are very welcome.
This flexible, as-and-when role would suit someone looking for work that fits around other commitments, including childcare or family life.
Availability between 8:00am and 6:00pm, most days, and preferably Fridays, would be ideal.
KEY OBJECTIVES
v To work with, and support the members of Acorns Early Years Centre in providing a high standard of care and education for the children attending the Centre, and to be a positive member of the team under the leadership of the Nursery Manager.
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
v To ensure that the Acorns Early Years Centre policy of equal opportunities is adhered to in all its facets, i.e. gender, ethnic minorities, dietary and special needs etc.
v To provide a warm, caring, homely and consistent atmosphere in which our children can thrive and parents can feel reassured they are safe and secure, while they are at home or work.
v To encourage independence, in accordance with the Early Years Foundation Stage.
v To share responsibility for the health and safety of children, recognising the importance of working as a team and referring if necessary to the line manager/Health & Safety Officer.
v To be alert to issues of Safeguarding/Child Protection ensuring that the welfare of all the children attending Acorns Early Years Centre is promoted and safeguarded and to report any Child Protection concerns to Acorns Early Years Centre’s Child Protection Officer.
v To assist in the supervision of the children at play (indoor and outdoor) and at mealtimes and to adhere to the allergy and dietary requirements of all the children within Acorns Early Years Centre.
v To assist with the development of the children’s personal and social skills, e.g. toileting, washing, dressing, use of cutlery etc. when you have been trained to do so.
v To follow Acorns Early Years Centre’s procedure for the positive management of children’s behaviour.
v To help repair and maintain resources such as books, materials and equipment and encourage the children to respect them.
v To undertake laundry and cleaning duties as required in conjunction with other staff.
v To attend staff meetings, open evenings and fundraising events as required by the Nursery Manager, out of nursery hours.
v To set an example in personal hygiene and appearance, dressing in a comfortable and suitable manner in the work situation.
v To participate in training and self-development activities, including appraisals.
v To be flexible about shift hours, holidays, staff sickness and any additional duties that may occur from time to time.
v To undertake any other tasks, as requested by the Management Team, that are necessary for the smooth running of the Nursery and the welfare of the children in its care.
