Robert Lickley Refractories Ltd (RLR) is a growing manufacturing business specialising in the design, manufacture and supply of refractory products to a range of heavy industrial sectors throughout the UK and overseas.
We are looking to recruit a skilled Fabricator / Welder to join our team during an exciting period of growth and investment.
This is a hands-on workshop-based role working within a busy industrial manufacturing environment. We are looking for a practical, dependable individual who takes pride in producing high-quality work and enjoys working with steel fabrication and welding equipment.
The Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for fabricating, assembling, repairing and welding steel components and equipment used throughout our manufacturing operation.
Key Responsibilities
- MIG welding of mild steel plate, cylinders, sections and fabricated components
- Fabricating and assembling steelwork to engineering drawings and specifications
- Flame cutting and profiling using oxy-acetylene equipment
- Drilling, tapping, grinding and preparing materials for fabrication
- Operating workshop equipment including saws, grinders, guillotines and drilling machines
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings to manufacture and inspect components
- Carrying out repairs and modifications to plant equipment and steel structures
- Completing work within agreed timescales and quality standards
- Supporting workshop housekeeping and maintaining a safe working environment
- Assisting with general fabrication, maintenance and workshop duties as required
- Operating a counterbalance forklift truck where trained and authorised
What We're Looking For
Essential
- Previous fabrication and welding experience (bonus if within a manufacturing, engineering or industrial environment)
- Competent MIG welding skills
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Experience using fabrication tools and workshop machinery
- Good understanding of workshop health and safety requirements
- Strong attention to detail and quality standards
- Reliable, hardworking and able to work with minimal supervision
- Comfortable working in a physical, industrial environment
Desirable
- Counterbalance Forklift Truck Licence (RTITB, ITSSAR or equivalent)
- Experience within heavy manufacturing, engineering, foundry, refractory or similar industries.
Hours of Work
- 7:30am – 3:15pm, Monday to Friday
- 30-minute paid break
- 30-minute unpaid lunch break
- Regular overtime available at 1.5x & 2x
