ANZUK Education is working with a highly regarded secondary school in Basildon seeking an enthusiastic SEND Learning Support Assistant to join their team. This flexible full-time or part-time position offers the opportunity to support pupils with a range of needs — including Autism (ASD), SEMH, and Speech & Language difficulties — helping them overcome barriers to learning and build self-confidence.

This SEND Learning Support Assistant role in Basildon would suit experienced learning support assistants, SEN teaching assistants, or those passionate about supporting children with additional needs.
Key Responsibilities of a SEND Learning Support Assistant:
- Deliver 1:1 and small-group interventions tailored to pupils' EHCP goals.
- Assist in the social and emotional development of students, using positive reinforcement.
- Maintain a calm and safe learning environment by effectively managing classroom transitions.
- Monitor and record pupil progress, providing valuable feedback to the teaching team.
- Support pupils during break and lunchtimes to encourage positive social interaction.
- Work under the guidance of the Class Teacher and SENCO to provide tailored support.
The Ideal Candidate Will:
- Have a genuine passion for supporting children with Special Educational Needs.
- Be resilient and patient, able to build strong rapport with students who may find school challenging.
- Demonstrate strong communication skills and a collaborative team-player attitude.
- Maintain high expectations for pupil progress, attainment and behaviour.
- Hold an exemplary commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, with an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to process one) and eligibility to work in the UK.
- Have experience with specific SEND strategies (e.g. PECS, Makaton, or de-escalation) — a bonus but not essential.
