We are seeking an experienced and committed Team Leader- Safeguarding to join our Student Services team. This is an exciting opportunity to lead safeguarding and student support functions that contribute to an outstanding student experience, ensuring learners are supported, retained and able to achieve their full potential.
Reporting to the Associate Director of Safeguarding, Counselling & Wellbeing, you will lead the Safeguarding Caseworker and Learning & Behaviour teams, providing operational oversight, case management and guidance to staff. You will also undertake the role of Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, supporting the College's safeguarding responsibilities and promoting a safe, inclusive and supportive environment for all students.
This role is ideal for an individual who is passionate about safeguarding, student wellbeing and delivering high-quality support services within an educational setting.
This is a Group role, and you will be expected to work across all DN Colleges sites, including Doncaster College in Doncaster, North Lindsey College in Scunthorpe, and University Campus North Lincolnshire (UCNL) in Scunthorpe
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Safeguarding Caseworker and Learning & Behaviour teams, providing effective operational management and support.
- Undertake the role of Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead.
- Monitor student data, identify concerns and implement appropriate interventions and support plans.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records using learner management systems, including CPOMS and ProSuite.
- Work collaboratively with internal departments and external agencies to coordinate support for students.
- Make appropriate referrals to specialist internal and external support services.
- Contribute to staff training and the development of safeguarding and student support practices.
- Support the emotional wellbeing, resilience and independence of learners through a holistic approach.
- Ensure compliance with safeguarding, equality, diversity, inclusion, health and safety, and quality assurance procedures.
- Support managers across Student Services with operational matters and service improvement initiatives.
Essential Criteria
- Degree qualification or willingness to work towards one, alongside GCSE Grade C/4 or above in English and Maths.
- Previous safeguarding experience within a relevant setting.
- Ability to motivate, support and inspire staff teams.
- Excellent communication and IT skills, including the ability to analyse and present data effectively.
- Strong organisational skills with a flexible, solution-focused and professional approach.
