Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Software Developer to spearhead the architectural design and development of our core backend systems. In this role, you will take full ownership of designing robust, high-throughput microservices, ensuring exceptional performance, scalability, and data integrity.
As a senior engineer in our nimble, high-efficiency team, you will have a direct impact on our technical direction. You will balance technical rigour with business agility, taking features entirely from initial design to production deployment
Responsibilities
- Backend Architecture: Design, build, and maintain scalable, low-latency distributed systems using modern microservices, CQRS, and Event Sourcing patterns.
- API Engineering: Build secure, high-throughput RESTful services capable of processing and validating complex data payloads with extreme reliability.
- Data Integrity & Lifecycle: Manage relational database persistence layers, ensuring optimized query performance, robust constraint management, and precise data lifecycle operations.
- Testing & Quality Assurance: Drive a culture of code quality by practising TDD/BDD and ensuring comprehensive coverage through unit testing and isolated database slice testing.
- Technical Leadership: Champion architectural best practices, lead code reviews, and provide thoughtful technical guidance and mentorship to team members.
- End-to-End Ownership: Translate business and product requirements into clear technical documentation and elegant software solutions.
Qualifications
- Professional Experience: 3+ years of software engineering experience, with a proven track record of ownership in senior or lead backend developer roles.
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience).
Pay: £54,800.00 per year
