Job Purpose
As a procurement executive you will support the Purchasing Manager in ensuring the efficient sourcing, purchasing, and supply of goods and services required to support the day-to-day running of the department.
Working in supplying products into the long-term care sector you will develop an understanding of procurement best practice, supplier management, inventory control, and commercial, purchasing while ensuring products and services meet quality, compliance, and value-for money requirements.
As part of this role, you will undertake a recognised apprenticeship programme, including
studying towards the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) qualification, enabling you to build a strong foundation for a career in procurement and supply chain management.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Purchasing Manager with the day-to-day purchasing of goods and services.
- Liaise with suppliers to obtain quotations, product specifications, pricing.
- Maintain accurate purchasing records and supplier information within the procurement system.
- Assist with supplier performance monitoring, including quality, delivery, and service levels.
- Assist in market research to identify new suppliers, products, and cost-saving opportunities.
- Assist in prepare reports and analyse purchasing data to support informed decision making.
- Work collaboratively with Sales, Customer Services, Finance, Operations, and other
departments to understand purchasing requirements.
- Work collaboratively with Bunzl stakeholders in other operating divisions.
- Ensure purchasing activities comply with organisational policies, contractual agreements, and relevant legislation.
- Support sustainability and value-for-money initiatives within the procurement function.
- Undertake any other administrative or procurement-related duties appropriate to the role.
Apprenticeship and Learning
The successful candidate will:
- Study towards the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) qualification.
- Attend all required training sessions and complete coursework within agreed
timescales.
- Apply learning gained through the apprenticeship to day-to-day responsibilities.
- Work closely with the Purchasing Manager and apprenticeship provider to support personal and professional development.
Person Specification
Essential
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.
- Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong numerical and analytical ability.
- Competent in Microsoft Office applications.
- A willingness to learn and develop a career in procurement.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Professional, reliable, and customer-focused approach.
