Could you be the friendly face helping to make Grimsby town centre a safer, more welcoming place for everyone?
If you're someone who enjoys working with people from all walks of life, stays calm under pressure and takes pride in making your community a better place, this could be the perfect role for you. You'll be proactive, observant and solutions-focused, with the ability to communicate effectively, handle challenging situations professionally and work independently as well as part of a wider partnership network.
What’s the role all about?
As a Grimsby Town Centre Warden, you'll play a key role in helping to keep the town centre safe, vibrant and welcoming. Through visible patrols, positive engagement and early intervention, you'll provide reassurance to the public, support vulnerable individuals and work alongside partners including Humberside Police, local businesses and council teams. Your contribution will help improve the town centre experience, support regeneration and encourage people to enjoy everything Grimsby has to offer. This role will also support the enforcement of the Grimsby Town Centre Public Space Protection Order. This can be found on the NELC website.
What will your day look like?
You will be carrying out high visibility uniformed foot patrols, providing advice to local businesses, helping to support vulnerable individuals in accessing support services or responding to concerns raised by residents and visitors. You'll record incidents, share intelligence with partner agencies, support town centre events and help identify environmental issues such as vandalism, littering or damage. Throughout the day, you'll be a reassuring and approachable presence, helping to make Grimsby town centre a safer and more welcoming place for everyone. This role will also support events within the Town Centre including assembly of market cabins, placement of the Hostile Vehicle Mitigation equipment, when required, and any other such duties.
Who are we looking for?
We're looking for someone with experience in a customer-facing, community-based or public safety environment who genuinely cares about people and their wellbeing. You'll have excellent communication skills, the ability to build strong relationships and confidence in dealing with a variety of situations, including supporting vulnerable individuals and managing conflict. Experience of working with partner organisations, maintaining accurate records and understanding safeguarding principles will help you succeed in this rewarding role.
Why join us?
This is an opportunity to make a visible and lasting impact on the heart of Grimsby. You'll be part of a dedicated team committed to supporting local communities, improving public safety and helping the town centre thrive. In return, you'll enjoy meaningful work, opportunities to develop your skills and the satisfaction of knowing that your efforts are helping to create a safer, cleaner and more welcoming environment for residents, businesses and visitors alike.
