Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and energetic Activities Co-ordinator to bring joy, engagement, and meaningful experiences to our residents. In this vital role, you will design, organize, and facilitate a diverse range of activities tailored to the interests and needs of seniors, including those living with dementia or requiring specialized care. Your enthusiasm and creativity will foster a lively community atmosphere, promote social interaction, and enhance residents’ overall well-being. Responsibilities
- Develop and implement engaging activity programs that cater to residents’ interests, abilities, and care requirements, including dementia and Alzheimer’s care.
- Coordinate daily activities such as arts and crafts, music sessions, games, outings, and themed events that stimulate mental and physical activity.
- Collaborate with care staff to ensure activities are inclusive and adapted for residents with specific needs or mobility limitations.
- Foster a warm, welcoming environment that encourages socialization, independence, and emotional well-being among residents.
- Maintain accurate records of participation, resident feedback, and activity outcomes to continually improve program offerings.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and team members to promote upcoming events and gather input for new initiatives.
- Ensure safety protocols are followed during all activities and outings.
Requirements
- Proven experience in assisted living facilities or nursing homes with a focus on senior care.
- Knowledge of dementia care and Alzheimer’s care best practices is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills to connect effectively with residents of diverse backgrounds and cognitive abilities.
- Previous experience coordinating activities in a care home or senior community setting.
- Demonstrated creativity in planning engaging activities that promote mental stimulation and physical activity.
- Compassionate attitude with a genuine passion for caregiving and enhancing quality of life for seniors.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team dedicated to compassionate care.
