Hawkins Electrical Ltd is a well-established electrical contractor specialising in the caravan, holiday park and marina sectors across the UK. We're currently looking for an organised and commercially minded Buyer / Purchasing Coordinator to join our team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys building supplier relationships, negotiating the best value and ensuring our engineers have the right materials at the right time. You'll play a key role in supporting the smooth delivery of projects while helping the business manage costs and improve efficiency.
The Role
Reporting to the Managing Director, you'll be responsible for purchasing materials, managing supplier relationships and maintaining stock levels to support projects across the business.
Your Responsibilities
- Raise purchase orders accurately and efficiently.
- Source electrical materials, tools and equipment from approved suppliers.
- Obtain quotations and negotiate the best prices and delivery terms.
- Monitor supplier performance and delivery times.
- Expedite urgent orders to ensure projects remain on schedule.
- Maintain appropriate stock levels and minimise excess inventory.
- Resolve supplier, pricing and invoice queries.
- Work closely with Project Managers and the manufacturing team to forecast material requirements.
- Identify opportunities to reduce purchasing costs and improve efficiencies.
- Maintain accurate purchasing records using company systems.
- Support continuous improvement within the purchasing function.
About You

Essential Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in a purchasing, procurement or buying role.
- Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail.
- Confident communicator with good negotiation skills.
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to prioritise multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- A positive, collaborative approach to working with colleagues and suppliers.
Desirable
- Experience within the electrical, construction or engineering sectors.
- Knowledge of electrical materials and suppliers.
- Experience using purchasing or ERP software.
- Understanding of stock control and inventory management.
