The role of Library Support Tutor combines delivering an excellent library service and supporting students with information literacy skills through 1:1s, groups and in-class sessions. You will work as part of the library team at Eastbourne whose primary focus is ensuring equal access to books, resources, IT and safe space for students to learn and unwind in. The library team pride themselves in providing a safe and inclusive service that is designed to meet the needs of the whole college community.
This exciting role will include:
- Delivering high-quality 1:1 and group support sessions to help students develop information literacy, research and study skills.
- Planning and delivering workshops and classroom-based sessions on topics such as research, referencing, revision techniques, essay writing and critical thinking.
- Supporting the day-to-day operation of a busy library, providing excellent customer service and helping to maintain a safe, inclusive and welcoming learning environment.
- Working collaboratively with curriculum, Wellbeing and Additional Learning Support teams to ensure students access the support they need to achieve their full potential.
If you can demonstrate the following, then we’d love to hear from you:
- A Degree (or equivalent) with experience of research, together with a Level 3 Award in Education and Training (or a willingness to work towards this qualification).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to support and engage students from entry level through to higher education.
- Strong digital skills, including Microsoft 365, Google Classroom and other online learning platforms.
- Excellent research, organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to adapt support to meet individual learner needs.

Previous library experience is beneficial but not essential, and we are keen to hear from applicants who can demonstrate a genuine interest in developing students' information literacy, research and independent learning skills.

Annual salary: Circa £27,100 FTE (The annual salary will be paid on a pro rata basis in line with the hours and term-time weeks worked)
Hours: Term Time Only 37 hours / 42 weeks per year
