Code Student Accommodation designs, builds, and manages modern student accommodation across Coventry and Leicester, alongside a wider portfolio of residential properties and commercial units. We are an award‑winning, independent, and growing business, proud of the high standards we set and the teams who help us deliver them.
We're looking for a professional, reliable, and approachable Security Officer to join our team in Coventry. You'll be stationed at one of our three sites, which together comprise almost 2,000 beds, including studio flats and cluster flats.
This is more than a traditional security role. You'll be a visible presence on site, acting as the first point of contact for students and visitors, while ensuring the safety, security, and wellbeing of residents within the building. You'll play a key role in maintaining a safe, welcoming, and well‑managed environment overnight, becoming an integral part of the wider CODE on‑site team.
This role is ideal for someone who is confident, calm under pressure, enjoys working with people, and takes pride in delivering a high standard of service while maintaining firm but fair site control across a large building.
Key Responsibilities
- Control access to the building, ensuring only authorised individuals enter the building
- Patrol the premises regularly, including communal areas and corridors, to maintain safety and security
- Act as first responder to incidents, including fire alarm activations and emergencies
- Liaise with emergency services (police, fire, ambulance) when required
- Monitor CCTV, parking, and communal areas
- Maintain accurate visitor logs and write daily handover and incident reports
- Enforce site rules and manage behavioural issues professionally across flats and shared spaces
- Challenge suspicious activity, checking identification where appropriate
- Monitor for criminal activity and report concerns promptly
- Inspect entry points, to ensure they are secure
- Carry out building checks, including basic temperature and systems monitoring
- Maintain high site standards by carrying out regular inspections of communal areas
- Complete litter picking to keep external and communal areas clean and presentable
- Undertake bin rotation and ensure refuse storage areas are tidy and well managed
- Communicate effectively with management, residents, and fellow team members
