The Role
Working closely with senior leadership, you'll divide your time between managing complex criminal defence matters and supporting the day-to-day operation of the department.
Responsibilities will include:
- Managing a varied caseload of criminal defence matters from police station through to trial
- Representing clients at police stations, Magistrates' Court and Crown Court, with advocacy where appropriate
- Supervising and mentoring junior lawyers and support staff
- Supporting recruitment, training and performance development
- Helping to drive business development and strengthen relationships with existing clients and referral sources
- Working closely with senior management to support the strategic development of the department
What We're Looking For
- Qualified Solicitor or Lawyer with significant experience in Criminal Defence
- Higher Rights of Audience preferred
- Previous experience supervising or mentoring colleagues would be advantageous
- Strong advocacy and client care skills
- Confident managing complex and sensitive matters independently
- Passion for developing others and fostering a positive team culture
