Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Baby Room Leader to oversee our nursery’s youngest children. The ideal candidate will possess strong management and leadership skills, with a passion for working with infants. This role involves creating a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for babies while ensuring the highest standards of childcare are maintained. The Baby Room Leader will be responsible for guiding a team of early childhood practitioners, planning age-appropriate activities, and fostering positive development in line with early childhood education principles.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the baby room team to deliver high-quality childcare and early learning experiences
- Plan and implement engaging activities tailored to infants’ developmental stages
- Ensure the safety, wellbeing, and individual needs of each baby are prioritised at all times
- Maintain accurate records of children’s progress, attendance, and daily routines
- Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding their child's development and daily experiences
- Organise rota schedules to ensure adequate staffing levels within the nursery
- Uphold compliance with nursery policies, health & safety regulations, and safeguarding procedures
- Foster a warm, welcoming environment that promotes emotional security and curiosity in infants
- Support team members’ professional development through mentoring and training
Experience
- Proven experience working with children in a nursery or childcare setting, preferably with infants or in early childhood education
- Demonstrable management or leadership experience within a childcare environment
- Strong understanding of child development milestones and appropriate activities for babies
- Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
- Valid childcare qualifications recognised within the UK (e.g., Level 3 Childcare qualification or equivalent)
- Experience working with diverse families and maintaining positive relationships with parents or guardians
- A valid driving licence is desirable for transporting supplies or attending external meetings as required
