We are looking for an experienced Occupational Therapist to join our Therapies team, supporting a young person in Oxford.
This is an excellent opportunity to deliver highly specialist occupational therapy as part of a multidisciplinary team, helping a young person with autism to develop greater independence, improve emotional regulation and maximise engagement in education and everyday life.
The Role
- Deliver weekly 40-minute direct occupational therapy sessions
- Provide approximately 10 hours of indirect support across the academic year
- Set meaningful therapy goals using a sensory integration approach informed by metacognitive, interoception-informed, regulation literacy and client-centred practice
- Support the young person to develop sensory awareness, emotional regulation, self-care, independence and fine motor skills
- Coach and support school staff and other key adults to embed therapeutic strategies into daily routines
- Monitor progress and adapt programmes to ensure interventions remain effective
- Liaise with parents, education staff and other professionals
- Maintain accurate clinical records, attend multidisciplinary meetings and produce an annual review report where required
About You
We're looking for someone who has:
- HCPC registration as an Occupational Therapist
- Experience working with children and young people with autism and additional needs
- Knowledge of sensory integration principles and neuro-affirming practice
- Experience supporting emotional regulation, sensory processing and functional independence
- Excellent communication, report writing and multidisciplinary working skills.
- The ability to coach and empower families, education staff and other professionals
- Experience supporting young people within educational settings would be highly desirable.
