About the Role
We're looking for an experienced and approachable People & Culture Advisor to join our team on a 12-month fixed-term contract to provide maternity cover.
Working closely with the Head of People, you'll play an important role in delivering a proactive and effective People & Culture service across the organisation. This is a varied, hands-on role covering the full employee lifecycle, including employee relations, recruitment and onboarding, HR administration, payroll support, employee engagement, compliance and Absence Management.
You'll be a trusted point of contact for employees and managers, providing practical and consistent advice while helping us maintain an engaging, compliant and well-organised working environment.
What You'll Be Doing

Provide day-to-day People & Culture advice and guidance to employees and managers across a range of HR matters.

Support and advise managers on employee relations matters, including absence, performance, conduct and other people-related issues.

Support recruitment activity from vacancy approval and advertising through to interviews, offers and onboarding.

Prepare and maintain accurate employee documentation, including contracts, offer letters and other employment correspondence.

Maintain accurate and confidential employee records within HR systems, ensuring compliance with GDPR and company policies.

Support payroll processes by collating, checking and providing accurate employee and payroll information.

Support employee onboarding, probation, changes to employment and offboarding activities.

Contribute to employee engagement initiatives.

Help ensure our people practices remain compliant with employment legislation, internal policies and procedures.

Produce and maintain HR reports and people metrics, including headcount, turnover and other department KPIS.

Support the review and development of People & Culture policies, processes and documentation.

Identify opportunities to improve HR processes and employee experience.

Support and contribute to wider People & Culture projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
About You
We're looking for someone who is confident and experienced in working in a generalist People & Culture/HR environment and comfortable managing a varied workload.
You'll ideally have:

Previous experience in an HR Advisor or similar generalist HR role.

Experience providing practical HR advice and guidance to managers and employees.

Good working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.

Experience supporting employee relations matters.

Experience of recruitment and onboarding processes.

Strong HR administration skills with excellent attention to detail.

Experience using HR systems and Microsoft Office.

The ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the confidence to build effective relationships across the business.

A proactive, organised and solutions-focused approach.

The ability to work independently while collaborating closely with the wider team.
Desirable:

CIPD qualification or working towards CIPD accreditation.

Experience supporting payroll processes.

Experience working within a regulated or fast-paced environment.
