CityEnds is a Birmingham-based construction and property development company delivering commercial, residential and large-scale building projects. We have been awarded a new long-term project to construct a 10-storey commercial building in Birmingham, and we are appointing an experienced Construction Project Manager to help plan and deliver it.
This is a senior role reporting to the Construction Director. You will lead the project from detailed planning and mobilisation through construction, commissioning, snagging and final handover, coordinating contractors, consultants, site teams, suppliers and stakeholders. The role is based two days a week at our Coventry Road office and the rest of the week on the Birmingham project site. It suits someone who has already managed a substantial commercial build and is comfortable controlling programme, budget, procurement, safety and quality on a live site.
What you'll do
You will own delivery against the agreed programme, budget, specification and safety requirements. That means building and maintaining the detailed programme, managing the budget alongside the commercial team, running procurement and subcontractor packages, and chairing progress and coordination meetings. You will maintain the Construction Phase Plan and ensure the site complies with CDM 2015, review risk assessments and method statements before work begins, and run quality control through inspection and test plans. You will keep the project risk register current, manage change control, produce weekly and monthly progress reports, and coordinate testing, commissioning, handover documentation and the defects period through to practical completion.
What you'll need
- Substantial experience in construction project management or site management within the UK construction industry, including at least one multi-storey commercial or comparable major new-build project taken through several stages from pre-construction to handover
- A relevant degree, HNC, HND, NVQ Level 6 or equivalent in Construction Management, Project Management, Civil Engineering, Building or Quantity Surveying (or equivalent senior experience)
- Current SMSTS certificate, a valid CSCS card appropriate to your role, and a valid First Aid at Work certificate
- Detailed knowledge of CDM 2015, UK Building Regulations and construction health and safety
- Commercial awareness across budgets, valuations, variations, procurement and cost reporting
- Working knowledge of JCT Design and Build and/or NEC contracts
- Competence with planning software (Asta Powerproject, MS Project or Primavera P6) and MS Office
- A full UK driving licence

Chartered or working towards chartered status with CIOB, RICS or APM; Temporary Works Coordinator training; NEBOSH Construction Certificate; experience with Procore or similar, BIM, or logistically complex city-centre sites.
