Simply Play
Simply Play is a social enterprise committed to providing professional School Aged Childcare in local communities across West Lothian and Edinburgh. We currently have venues in Broxburn, East Calder, 2 in Livingston, Wester Inch and Balerno.
About the Role
Our Childcare Managers are essentially the most influential employees of Simply Play. Our success is dependent on their knowledge and experience, as well as their passion, creativeness, enthusiasm, and empathy. Our managers lead a dedicated team of Playworkers and Modern Apprentices in providing high quality School Age Childcare and helping children to create Awesome Childhood memories both indoors and outdoors.
Our Childcare Managers are responsible for making sure children and staff are: Safe, Healthy, Achieving, Nurtured, Active, Responsible, Respected, and Included. They captain their team and take on a wide range of duties, outcome focussed observations and planning, delivering, and reviewing our service.
We are not prescriptive about listing duties and responsibilities as we expect our Childcare Managers to be willing to take on whatever comes their way and lead their team with confidence! No two days at Simply Play are the same and key aspects of the role will include:

· Having a strong understanding of your venue’s performance, budget, and development
· Managing staff recruitment, development and retention, celebrating success and addressing areas for improvement
· Promoting a positive, inclusive, and child-centred culture
Quality of Care & Curriculum Planning
· Monitoring the Quality Improvement Framework for your venue
· Ensuring the environment is safe, nurturing, and age appropriate
· Overseeing the planning of our play curriculum
· Supporting children’s development and wellbeing through effective recording
Communication & Engagement
· Attending and contributing to Simply Play Managers’ meetings
· Facilitating weekly staff meetings
· Acting as a key point of contact for parents
· Actively seeking and reviewing feedback from parents and children
Compliance & Safeguarding
· Ensuring the service meets all Care Inspectorate standards
· Leading safeguarding for your venue
· Taking responsibility for all risk assessments and dynamic risk assessment procedures
· Overseeing venue Health & Safety and Food Hygiene requirements
Administration
· Handling regulatory reporting and inspections
· Keeping accurate records (attendance, medication, incidents, staff training)
Who we are Looking For:
Our Childcare Managers lead by example with professionalism, compassion, humour, and fun! They are approachable and take time to listen and be understanding, even when they are tired and want to go home. They are ready to do the unexpected and understand that our children are our top priority. They build nurturing relationships, strive to inspire everyone around them, and make the job their own.
We need you to:
· Have demonstrable experience of working in a childcare setting.
· Hold a Level 7 SVQ in Social Services (Children and Young People)
