Summary
We are seeking a reliable and proactive Site Supervisor to support the smooth day-to-day operation of our school premises. Working under the direction of the Headteacher or Senior Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and secure environment for pupils, staff, and visitors.
This is a hands-on role involving caretaking, security, maintenance, and supervision duties, with occasional responsibility for allocating work to cleaning staff.
Key Responsibilities
Security & Supervision
- Open and close the school premises (routine and emergency access)
- Act as a key holder, responding to alarms, emergencies, or incidents outside normal hours
- Provide access for contractors and visitors
- Assist during adverse conditions (e.g. snow, minor flooding)
- Support and allocate work to cleaning staff
Cleaning, Caretaking & Maintenance
- Carry out general and closure cleaning duties
- Use equipment such as floor buffers, power washers, and leaf blowers
- Undertake internal window cleaning (including high-level work where trained)
- Replace bulbs and clean lighting diffusers
- Monitor cleanliness standards and report issues
- Carry out minor DIY and maintenance tasks
- Keep outdoor areas free from litter and drains clear
- Ensure sufficient cleaning supplies are available
- Operate heating systems and carry out frost precautions
- Perform routine checks on fire alarms, water systems, pumps, and related equipment
- Respond to incidents such as fire, flood, or damage
- Manage deliveries and distribute goods around the site
Other Duties:
- Prepare and clear premises for out-of-school activities
- Attend relevant training
- Occasionally collect supplies as required
