This is a busy practice with a solid work load that requires continuity in our staff. The buildings and projects we are involved with is wide and varied so there is little chance of getting stuck working on the same thing day after day.
You will be based at our Exeter office and our work is mostly in the nearby area and throughout the south west with much of it in the rural parts of Devon. With north and south coasts and Dartmoor in between, there are a lot of good reasons to move to this area if you are not already here.

Experienced Structural Engineer
We are in need of an experienced structural engineer who is competent in the design of all of the regularly-used construction materials and building forms. As can be seen from the contents of this website, this Practice has a wide and varied workload and to deal with this, any candidate must have the following.
Necessary qualities for candidates include the following.
- the ability to use ingenuity and creativity to resolve complex engineering and wider problems
- a good grasp of the behaviour of structures
- BSc/BEng/MSc/MEng in civil and/or structural engineering
- minimum four years as design engineer
Desirable qualities for candidates include the following.
- Chartered structural engineer or near chartered
- able to carry out surveys and produce reports
- a working knowledge of structural timber
- ability to deal with new enquiries and provide fee proposals for quotation purposes
- able to use AutoCAD and produce drawings and sketches by hand
- have an understanding and a real desire to work with historic buildings
- understanding and desire to work on projects where the aim is to provide ecologically sound and energy efficient buildings.
