Our high-street practices in Peckham, Ilford, and Croydon focus on accessible, patient-centered care in vibrant, diverse South and East London communities.We're seeking enthusiastic Optical Assistants to join our friendly teams—ideal for those with some formal education and a passion for helping people see better.Key Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly, handle reception duties, book appointments, and manage enquiries.
- Perform initial pre-screening tests (e.g., auto-refraction, visual fields) under supervision.
- Assist with frame styling, lens advice, and dispensing—helping patients choose eyewear that fits their needs, style, and budget.
- Support optometrists during exams and ensure a clean, welcoming practice environment.
- Process sales, handle payments, and maintain stock/merchandising.
- Deliver excellent customer service in a busy, community-focused setting.
What We're Looking For
- Some formal education/qualifications preferred (e.g., GCSEs grades 9-4/A*-C or equivalent in English, Maths, and Science Level 2/3 ).
- Previous customer service or retail experience (optical experience is preferred).
- Strong communication skills and a friendly, patient-focused attitude.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to learn and develop (e.g., toward ABDO Optical Assistant certification or apprenticeships).
- Full eligibility to work in the UK.
