Day Tour Host – Heritage Day Tours
£150 per tour day | Casual / Zero-Hours | Based in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire
About Heritage Day Tours
Heritage Day Tours is a new premium day tour company based in Buckinghamshire, offering carefully organised days out to some of England’s most beautiful and historic destinations.
Our tours are particularly designed with older adults in mind, with a strong focus on comfort, companionship, excellent organisation and genuinely warm customer service.
We are looking for friendly, confident and dependable Day Tour Hosts to become the face of Heritage Day Tours and help us deliver an exceptional experience for our guests.
The Role
As a Day Tour Host, you will accompany guests throughout the tour aboard a premium coach or minibus and help ensure the day runs smoothly from departure to return.
This is not a traditional tour guide role. You will not be expected to deliver lengthy historical talks. Instead, you will be responsible for creating a welcoming atmosphere, communicating clearly with guests and ensuring everyone feels comfortable, included and well looked after.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Warmly welcoming and checking in guests at the departure point
- Introducing yourself and explaining the day's itinerary
- Making announcements and communicating clearly with the group
- Creating a friendly, relaxed and sociable atmosphere
- Keeping the tour running to schedule
- Liaising with the coach driver and Heritage Day Tours team
- Ensuring all guests are accounted for before each departure
- Providing light assistance and reassurance where appropriate
- Helping distribute complimentary refreshments
- Answering guests' questions
- Taking photographs during the day where appropriate
- Dealing calmly and professionally with any minor issues that arise
- Helping make each trip a memorable experience for our guests
Who We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who is naturally warm, personable and confident around people.
The ideal candidate will be:
- Friendly, patient and approachable
- An excellent communicator
- Confident speaking to groups
- Reliable and punctual
- Well presented and professional
- Organised and able to follow an itinerary
- Calm and sensible when dealing with unexpected situations
- Comfortable and confident interacting with older adults
- Someone who genuinely enjoys conversation and meeting new people
Previous experience in hospitality, tourism, aviation, healthcare, teaching, events, customer service or working with older adults would be advantageous, but it is not essential.
For us, personality, reliability and the ability to make people feel genuinely welcome are more important than having worked as a tour host before.
Working With Heritage Day Tours
This is a flexible, casual role. Tour dates will vary and may include both weekdays and weekends.
You will receive:
- £150 per completed tour day
- Heritage Day Tours uniform
- Training and briefing before your first tour
- A detailed itinerary for each trip
- Travel throughout the tour at no cost
- Refreshments/food while working where provided as part of the tour
- Flexible opportunities to accept tour dates according to availability
- Opportunity for more regular work as Heritage Day Tours grows
Tours will generally depart from the Buckinghamshire area and travel to destinations across England.
