Volunteer Youth Worker – HiveAbility 13+
Tuesday evenings, 4:45pm–8:15pm
The Hive Youth Zone, Birkenhead
Are you passionate about helping young people feel included, supported and able to be themselves?
We’re looking for a friendly and enthusiastic Volunteer Youth Worker to join our HiveAbility 13+ session on Tuesday evenings. HiveAbility is our inclusive provision for young people aged 13 and over with additional needs and disabilities.
You’ll work alongside our experienced team to help create a welcoming, engaging and safe environment. This could involve:
- Supporting young people to take part in activities
- Building positive and encouraging relationships
- Helping young people develop their confidence, independence and social skills
- Getting involved in activities across the session
- Supporting the team to ensure every young person feels included
We would particularly love to hear from someone with an interest in music who would feel comfortable supporting young people in our music room. You don’t need to be a professional musician—enthusiasm, creativity and a willingness to get involved are what matter most! Musical experience is desirable but not essential.
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Friendly, patient and approachable
- Reliable and able to commit to Tuesday evenings
- Passionate about supporting young people
- Inclusive and respectful of individual needs
- Comfortable working as part of a team
- Willing to learn and take part in training
Previous youth work or additional-needs experience would be helpful, but it isn’t essential. We’ll provide the training, guidance and ongoing support you need.
As part of our safer recruitment process, volunteers are required to complete an application form, provide two references and undertake an enhanced DBS check. You’ll also receive an induction and safeguarding training before beginning your role.
This is a fantastic opportunity to gain experience, share your interests and make a genuine difference to the lives of young people in our community.
