Overall, Purpose of the Job:
To support the safe and efficient operation of the DBM yard, ensuring all materials are stored, handled, and loaded correctly. The Yard Operative provides excellent service to customers, assists with deliveries, and maintains a clean, safe working environment.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Load and unload customer vehicles and company HGVs safely and efficiently.
- Ensure all goods are stored correctly and stock is rotated as needed.
- Assist customers in locating and collecting products, providing a friendly and helpful service.
- Check incoming deliveries for accuracy and report discrepancies.
- Operate forklifts and yard machinery in line with safety procedures.
- Maintain a tidy, organised, and safe yard environment.
- Assist with stock checks and inventory control.
- Comply with all health, safety, and environmental procedures.
- Support branch operations by assisting with deliveries or other tasks as required.

Qualification and Experience requirement:
- Previous experience working in a builders’ merchant or similar environment desirable.
- Forklift licence (Counterbalance) preferred.
- Good understanding of health and safety in a yard setting.

- Physically fit and capable of manual handling.
