Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced, leadership-minded Senior Commercial Electrician to lead electrical installations on our large-scale commercial fit-outs. In this senior role, you will not only deliver high-quality electrical work but also oversee junior electricians or subcontractors, manage site containment and wiring layout strategies, and act as the technical point of contact on site.
This role requires excellent problem-solving abilities, strong communication, and the confidence to coordinate directly with Site Managers, Main Contractors, and food vendors. As UK-wide travel is involved, you must be fully comfortable working away from home during project completions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the installation of commercial electrical systems, power distribution, lighting, and data containment on new sites and ensure existing sites are well maintained.
- Oversee, mentor, and coordinate the daily tasks of junior electricians, apprentices, or electrical subcontractors on site.
- Review, interpret, and accurately execute complex technical electrical drawings and schematic layouts.
- Manage first and second-fix installation workflows to meet strict project timelines.
- Take ownership of testing, inspecting, and official certification of installations to BS 7671 standards.
- Liaise closely with Site Managers and M&E Consultants to ensure seamless project integration.
- Proactively identify design clashes or routing issues and implement practical on-site solutions. Source at competitive prices all materials.
- Enforce strict electrical quality control and health and safety compliance across the electrical team.
Skills & Experience Required
- Minimum 7–10 years’ experience in commercial electrical installation, with proven time spent in a senior or supervisory capacity.
- Extensive experience delivering complex commercial fit-outs (hospitality, retail, or commercial kitchens preferred).
- Fully qualified commercial electrician (e.g., NVQ Level 3 Electrical Installation, Gold Card JIB/ECS).
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification (BS 7671).
- Certified in Electrical Inspection and Testing (e.g., City & Guilds 2391 or 2394/2395) to sign off works.
- Advanced ability to troubleshoot, read blueprints, and adapt layouts on the fly.Valid CSCS / ECS Supervisor Card (Highly preferred).
- Full UK driving licence (Required).
- Must be fully willing to travel and work away from home, working 50 hours across 5 days.
