Deputy Manager – Children’s Residential Home (EBD )

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Deputy Manager to join our growing organisation, supporting two children's residential homes. The primary base will be our Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) home.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Residential Support Worker looking to take the next step in their career, or an existing Deputy Manager seeking a new challenge within a supportive and child-focused organisation.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Registered Manager to ensure high standards of care, safeguarding, compliance, and positive outcomes for children and young people.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Registered Manager with the day-to-day running of the homes.
- Lead, supervise, and mentor residential care staff.
- Ensure children receive high-quality, child-centred care in line with their care plans.
- Promote positive behaviour support and therapeutic approaches.
- Support staff development through supervision, coaching, and training.
- Ensure safeguarding procedures are consistently implemented and followed.
- Assist with rota management, staff deployment, and operational planning.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with Ofsted regulations and Children's Homes Quality Standards.
- Participate in the on-call rota as required.
- Support both the EBD services to ensure continuity of care and operational effectiveness.
- Deputise for the Registered Manager in their absence.
RequirementsEssential
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent recognised qualification).
- Minimum of 2 years' experience as a Senior Residential Support Worker within a children's residential setting if applying as a step-up candidate.
- Experience working with children and young people with complex needs, challenging behaviours, EBD.
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding, children's legislation, and Ofsted requirements.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
- Ability to motivate and develop staff teams.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards).
- Previous Deputy Manager experience.
- Experience supporting children with Emotional Behavioural Difficulties
- Experience participating in Ofsted inspections.
