We’re looking for a confident and customer-focused Theatre Team Leader to help lead our front of house team at Exmouth Pavilion.
This is a hands-on role at the heart of our performances and events. You’ll help make sure every customer receives a safe, welcoming and enjoyable experience, while providing clear direction and support to our Theatre Team.
Acting as a key link between the team and the Unit Manager for Facilities and Operations, you’ll coordinate front of house activity, lead event briefings and help the team respond calmly and professionally to the demands of a busy live entertainment venue.
You’ll support the smooth running of performances and events by:
-
Supervising and support the team during operational shifts
-
Leading pre-event briefings so that everyone understands the show, their duties and any customer or safety requirements
-
Coordinating customer entry, seating, interval activity and exit arrangements
-
Acting as the first point of support for team queries and customer concerns
-
Helping customers with queries, complaints and access requirements
-
Working closely with Box Office, technical, bar, café, facilities and duty management colleagues
-
Supporting practical event preparations, including signage, programmes, seating checks and customer information
-
Making sure front of house areas remain safe, clean and well presented
-
Supporting emergency procedures and escalating incidents, hazards or maintenance concerns appropriately
-
Coaching and encouraging team members, including supporting their induction, training and ongoing development
-
Sharing feedback and ideas that help us continually improve the customer and team experience
You’ll be someone who enjoys working with people and can remain calm, organised and approachable during busy events.
You’ll ideally have:
-
Experience in a customer-facing role within theatre, live events, hospitality, leisure or visitor services
-
Strong customer service and problem-solving skills
-
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
-
The confidence to guide, support and motivate others
-
Good organisational skills and the ability to coordinate several priorities
-
An understanding of the importance of safety, compliance and clear communication
-
The flexibility to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays in line with the events programme
-
A First Aid and Fire Marshal qualification, or a willingness to undertake the relevant training
Previous supervisory experience or experience within a theatre, arts, entertainment or events environment would be an advantage, but it is not essential.
We’re looking for someone who leads by example, takes ownership and genuinely cares about creating a great experience for customers and colleagues.
You’ll be professional, supportive and adaptable, with a strong focus on teamwork, inclusion and safety. We’re committed to building an inclusive and diverse workplace and warmly welcome applications from all backgrounds.
This role is a great opportunity to build your experience in front of house operations, event delivery, venue safety and team leadership.
At Exmouth Pavilion, we’re committed to developing our people and promoting from within wherever possible. Development is supported through on-the-job learning, coaching, formal training and exposure to wider venue and duty management responsibilities.
