This is an exciting opportunity for an organised and proactive finance professional who enjoys working in a busy environment where no two days are the same.
Working alongside the Accounts Manager and wider Finance Team, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the accounts function, supporting both internal departments and external customers and suppliers.
About the Role
As an Accounts Assistant, you will be responsible for supporting the daily financial operations of the business, ensuring financial records remain accurate, suppliers are paid on time and customer accounts are effectively managed.
This is a varied role that requires excellent organisational skills, strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities within a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
You'll be responsible for:
- Processing purchase and sales ledger transactions.
- Producing and issuing customer sales invoices.
- Processing supplier invoices and preparing payment runs.
- Allocating customer payments, receipts and credit notes.
- Daily banking and bank reconciliations.
- Supporting credit control activities and customer account management.
- Completing credit checks and setting appropriate credit limits.
- Assisting with month-end processes and financial reporting.
- Processing journals and expense claims.
- Supporting payroll administration when required.
- Responding professionally to customer and supplier enquiries.
- Maintaining accurate financial records and documentation.
- Working collaboratively with departments across the business to ensure efficient financial processes.
- Supporting continuous improvement within the Finance function.
- Carrying out any other finance duties appropriate to the role.
About You
We're looking for someone who has:
Essential
- Previous experience working within an Accounts Assistant or Finance Assistant position.
- Strong understanding of Purchase Ledger and Sales Ledger.
- Experience with bank reconciliations.
- Credit control experience.
- Sage 50 Accounts Professional experience.
- Excellent Microsoft Excel skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to prioritise workload and work independently.
- Professional approach when dealing with confidential information.
Desirable
- Sage Payroll experience.
- AAT qualification (or studying towards).
- Experience supporting month-end processes.
- Experience within transport, logistics or another fast-paced commercial environment.

Working Hours
Monday to Friday
9:00am – 5:30pm
(37.5 hours per week)
Additional hours may occasionally be required to support business needs.
