Job Summary
Watermelon Catering are seeking an experienced and dynamic General Manager to lead and oversee daily operations in our exciting new venue opening in Aberdeen City Centre.
The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership qualities, exceptional organisational skills, and a proven track record in management within hospitality environments. This role offers an exciting opportunity to drive strategic growth, create and manage a team and ensure the delivery of excellent customer service.
This new project is an open-kitchen concept, so it is essential that the General Manager can work very effectively in the kitchen while also being able to work front-of-house.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage all aspects of the venue’s operations, ensuring efficiency and profitability. While adhering to GP% and budgeting requirements.
- Supervise, train and motivate staff while being hands-on and taking the lead in all day-to-day operations (front of house and back of house).
- Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve business goals while maintaining high standards of customer service.
- Maintain organisational compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies.
- Manage administrative tasks such as budgeting, reporting, scheduling, cashing up and inventory control to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Foster a positive organisational culture that encourages teamwork, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Drive, push and create fun and engaging social media content
Essential Skills:
- Proven management experience with a focus on supervising teams within hospitality environments.
- Strong leadership qualities with the ability to motivate staff towards achieving organisational goals.
- Excellent communication skills—both verbal and written—coupled with professional customer-facing etiquette.
- Sound time management skills to coordinate multiple responsibilities effectively.
- Administrative experience with budgeting and reporting.
- Ability to work confidently in back-of-house operations as well as front-of-house operations. This is a role that requires strong kitchen experience coupled with front of house experience.
