The Alexa for Shopping design team is seeking a Senior User Experience Designer to help us invent features for Amazon’s personalised, agentic AI assistant. Our new experience brings together the best of Rufus and Alexa+ to deliver a more personal, helpful shopping experience across a wide range of surfaces and devices—from the Amazon Shopping app and website to Echo Show, where customers can now browse and shop the full Amazon store using voice, touch, or both.
To thrive in this role, you must be a pioneer with an inventor’s spirit—someone with a strong command of visual and interaction design who is passionate about technology and innovation. You can work at pace, handle several projects, and quickly interpret and balance business and customer requirements to translate them into intuitive, elegant design solutions. You know how to present ideas professionally through a strategic and creative lens. You must be comfortable working with project briefs and managing stakeholder inputs, functional requirements, and timelines. You have a solid understanding of user experience design fundamentals—including information architecture, interaction patterns, and visual hierarchy—combined with a deep understanding of how to collaborate with conversation designers, researchers, product management, engineering, data science, and operational teams as you go from early-stage product concepts to launches of new features and experiences.
Key job responsibilities
- Develop high-level customer experience strategy for both the near and long term
- Design interaction flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity visual interfaces for experiences, partnering with Conversation Designers on accompanying conversational components
- Work with Science and Engineering teams to define UI patterns for LLM-generated and agentic content, ensuring designs are scalable and technically feasible
- Present design work to the user experience team, product team, engineering team, leaders, and partner organisations for review and feedback
- Collaborate with other design team members on experiences, design systems, frameworks, processes, and best practices
- Work with our UX research and data analysis teams to assess and optimise new and existing features
- Navigate ambiguity—including shifts in direction and rapidly evolving customer expectations—and bring clarity to design decision-making through your work
- Speak, write, and read fluently in English
- Bachelor’s or higher degree in Interaction Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), User Experience Design, Graphic Design, Visual Communication or a related field, or equivalent professional experience demonstrated through a strong portfolio
- A portfolio that demonstrates excellence in visual and interaction design at the senior level; please include a link to it on your CV
- 8+ years of experience in user experience design or interaction design
- Experience designing for LLM-enabled or AI-driven customer experiences
- Proficiency in industry-standard design tools (e.g., Figma) and AI-assisted prototyping methods
