Overview
We are a well-established and regarded General Builder / Property Developer company based in Colchester.
We are seeking a skilled Bricklayer to join our construction team at our new build site in Colchester. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in bricklaying and be adept at working with various materials to create durable and aesthetically pleasing structures. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively on-site.
Duties
- Lay bricks, blocks, and other types of masonry units according to specifications and drawings.
- Prepare surfaces for bricklaying by cleaning and applying mortar or other bonding agents.
- Ensure that all work is completed to a high standard of quality and in compliance with safety regulations.
- Operate hand tools and power tools effectively to carry out masonry tasks.
- Collaborate with other tradespeople, including carpenters and welders, to ensure seamless integration of brickwork with other construction elements.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to health and safety guidelines.
Skills
- Proficiency in bricklaying and block laying.
- Experience using hand tools such as trowels, chisels, and levels, as well as power tools relevant to masonry work.
- Ability to read and interpret specifications and technical drawings accurately.
- Strong problem-solving skills to address challenges that arise during construction projects.
- Physical stamina and strength to perform manual tasks for extended periods.

Schedule
- Monday to Friday, Site hours 7.30am to 4.30 pm (8 working hours, 2 nonpaid half hour breaks)
Rates of pay:
From £160 per day Dependent on experience, skill set and proven abilities.
