Job Summary
The Children’s Team Manager will lead and develop Pathway Project’s children’s provision across refuge and community-based services, ensuring that children and young people affected by domestic abuse receive high-quality, trauma-informed, child-centred support.
The postholder will provide operational oversight to the children’s team, managing staff, volunteers, programmes, budgets, activities, and resources. They will oversee the planning, delivery and evaluation of services that support children to recover from the impact of domestic abuse, improve emotional wellbeing, build resilience, and develop healthy relationships.
The role will also take lead responsibility for coordinating and developing the Healthy Relationships Programme, working collaboratively with Children's Outreach Workers, volunteers, schools and partner agencies to maximise engagement and impact.
Key Responsibilities
1. Management
- Lead, motivate and develop the Children's Team to deliver high-quality services across refuge and outreach settings.
- Provide day-to-day management, supervision and performance management of Refuge children's Support Workers, Children's Outreach Workers and Volunteers and sessional education staff
- Conduct regular one-to-one supervision, annual appraisals and development reviews.
2. Service Delivery and Quality Assurance
- Oversee the delivery of children's refuge and community-based support services.
- Ensure children receive tailored, needs-led interventions, including, one to one support, group programmes, creative and therapeutic activities, school and educational support, half term activities and trips and delivering healthy relationships programmes
- Maintain oversight of referral pathways, assessments, support plans and case management systems.
- Monitor outcomes and ensure services meet organisational, contractual and funding requirements.
- Ensure children's voices are embedded in service development and delivery.
- Support the development of age-appropriate resources, activities and interventions.
3. Healthy Relationships Programme Lead
- Coordinate the planning, implementation and evaluation of the Healthy Relationships Programme.
- Work collaboratively with Children's Outreach Workers, CHISVA staff, volunteers and external partners to deliver the programme.
- Develop programme schedules and delivery plans across schools, community venues and refuge settings.
- Monitor attendance, engagement and outcomes.
- Produce reports and impact data for internal and external stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities to expand and improve programme delivery.
- Ensure programme content remains compliant with safeguarding and best practice guidance.
4. Partnership Working and Volunteer Coordination
- Work closely with the Volunteer Manager to coordinate volunteer involvement within children's services.
- Support volunteers participating in children's activities, groups, events and programmes.
- Communicate service needs and opportunities for volunteer involvement across refuge and outreach services.
- Ensure volunteers understand and adhere to safeguarding, confidentiality and organisational procedures.
- Foster positive working relationships between volunteers, staff and partner agencies to enhance outcomes for children and young people
5. Children's Activities and Programmes
- Oversee and support with refuge-based children's activities delivered by the Children's Support Worker.
- Ensure a varied, inclusive and engaging programme of activities is available throughout the year.
- Support planning and delivery of breakfast, after-school clubs, half term programmes, play activities, educational support sessions, family activities and community-based event or awareness sessions.
- Ensure appropriate risk assessments are completed for all activities and trips.
- Monitor participation and evaluate impact.
6. Budget and Resource Management
- Manage the children's services activity budget and allocated project funding.
- Monitor expenditure and ensure resources are used effectively and responsibly.
- Maintain accurate spreadsheets and budget tracking systems.
- Produce financial monitoring reports as required.
- Oversee purchasing of equipment, educational materials, activity resources and welcome packs.
- Identify funding needs and contribute to grant applications where appropriate.
- Ensure value for money while maintaining high-quality service provision.
7. Safeguarding
- Ensure all safeguarding concerns relating to children are identified, recorded and reported promptly in line with Pathway Project policies and procedures.
- Liaise with the Head of Operations (DSL) regarding safeguarding concerns, referrals and risk management.
- Support the Children's Support Worker and Children's Outreach Worker in maintaining effective safeguarding practices.
- Attend and contribute to child protection conferences, core groups, strategy meetings and multi-agency meetings as required.
- Ensure children's services operate in accordance with safeguarding legislation, organisational policies and best practice guidance.
- Promote a culture of safeguarding, wellbeing and professional accountability across the children's team.
8. Partnership Working
- Build and maintain effective relationships with schools, statutory services, health professionals, community organisations and specialist domestic abuse partners.
- Represent Pathway Project at multi-agency meetings, networks and partnership forums.
- Work collaboratively with external agencies to improve outcomes for children and young people affected by domestic abuse.
- Promote awareness of Pathway Project's children's services within the community and amongst partner organisations.
9. Monitoring, Reporting and Administration
- Ensure accurate and timely recording of children's services activities, interventions and outcomes on the case management system.
- Maintain and monitor spreadsheets relating to children's refuge services, outreach activities and the Healthy Relationships Programme.
- Lead on the administration of referral and booking forms for children's programmes and activities.
- Provide information, statistics and service updates to the Head of Operations, Data Officer and senior management as required.
- Contribute to reports for trustees, funders, commissioners and internal meetings, working alongside the Head of Operations and Data Officer.
- Support audits, inspections, quality assurance processes and service reviews.
- Liaise with the Finance Manager regarding children's service budgets, expenditure and activity costs.
- Ensure compliance with GDPR, confidentiality and information management requirements.
- Identify trends, service gaps and development opportunities through monitoring and feedback from children, families and partner agencies.
General Responsibilities

- Attend training, supervision and team meetings.
