A.G. Kerr Carpentry and Construction has been delivering high-end bespoke carpentry and construction across Surrey, Sussex and Kent since 2001. We work on premium extensions, new builds, refurbishments and specialist joinery for private homeowners and developers — including listed buildings and prestige projects — and we're known for the quality of finish we bring to every job.
As we take on more work, we're looking for reliable, skilled subcontract carpenters to join our regular team. If you take pride in a clean, precise finish and want steady, well-paid work without the hassle of chasing your own clients, we'd like to hear from you.
The Role
We need first and second fix carpenters comfortable working to a high specification — from structural timberwork and roof carpentry through to staircases, doors, skirting, architrave and bespoke joinery. Work is based across Surrey, Sussex and Kent, with projects ranging from residential extensions to full new builds.
- First fix: floor joists, stud walls, roof carpentry, door linings, and ideally oak frame erecting
- Second fix: doors, skirting, architrave, staircases
- Bespoke joinery: fitted units, cabinetry, windows (to your skill set)
- Working from drawings and to a high-end finish standard
- Site-based work across the Surrey/Sussex/Kent area
- The role will involve some construction-based works as well as carpentry
- Hours are 7:30am – 4:30pm
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience as a carpenter (site or bespoke joinery)
- CIS-registered, self-employed
- Full range of own tools and your own van
- Valid CSCS card
- Ability to work independently and read drawings
- Two references from previous contracts
- A genuine eye for detail and quality of finish
