Overview:
We are seeking a enthusiastic and passionate individual to join our kitchen team in the role of Kitchen Assistant. As a part of our team, you will play a crucial role in food handling, preparation and meal execution. This role will be a mixture of working alongside our Kitchen Porters, preparation and evening chefs. If you have a passion for cooking and thrive in a fast-paced kitchen environment, we would love to hear from you. This role will be full time for the upcoming summer season with an immediate start and year-round work guaranteed.
Responsibilities:
- Washing dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment
- Keeping the kitchen, prep areas and store rooms clean and sanitized
- Emptying trash bins and disposing of all kitchen waste properly
- Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes and quality standards
- Assist with food preparation tasks, such as chopping vegetables and preparing sauces
- Set up and stock stations with all necessary supplies
- Ensure that food is stored and handled safely and in accordance with food safety guidelines
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure smooth operations during service
- Follow proper plating techniques to create visually appealing dishes
Experience:
- Previous experience working in a kitchen or restaurant setting would be great but isn't essential as all training needs will be met
- Knowledge and/or interest of culinary arts, techniques and practices
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and procedures
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
