Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineering Apprentice Required
Qualifications Required: SCQF 5 (National 5, Intermediate 2, Credit standard grade, ME level 1
Level of Modern Apprenticeship: SCQF 7 MA level 3
Salary range: From £8.50/hr
40 hours (Monday to Friday, 8.00am to 5.00 pm)
Overview:
Employer led : - Engineering Asset Lifestyle and Maintenance would require you to use and learn a variety of Mechanical and Electrical Maintenance techniques to support a food processing environment. Employer would require apprentices to:
- Demonstrates a strong work ethic and a proactive approach to Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM).
- Service, fault find and repair a wide range of equipment from Electrical and Mechanical equipment to integrated computer-controlled processing systems.
The ability to apply reason and think logically is an asset when faced with diagnosing intermittent faults which although difficult to solve at the time is satisfying when the fault has been resolved.
As a highly skilled maintenance engineer you will be carrying out planned maintenance and emergency break down maintenance. This is a demanding role with the maintenance engineer having to be multi skilled in mechanical, electrical and process control systems.
Typical Day
Perform routine daily checks on key machinery to identify potential issues early and minimise equipment downtime.
In this role you will work on equipment that is both mechanical and electrical. Machines are usually automated and require a high skill set level to maintain them.
Knowledge of electrical, mechanical and possibly plc would be taught during your apprenticeship. As with all apprenticeships you will also attend college to gain a NC & HNC electrical if appropriate plus the SVQ level 2 PEO. Further educational opportunities may become available depending on attitude and grades achieved during your training.
Qualifications/Quantities
1st year of the apprenticeship you will attend college 2 days per week to attain Performing Engineering Operations SVQ Level 2 (SCQF Level 5) and 3 days at your workplace
2nd year of apprenticeship you will attend college 2-days per week to attain a relevant National Certificate if appropriate with 3 days at your workplace and will start your relevant SVQ Level 3 at SCQF level 7 (Sector Specific Pathway).
3rd year you will attend college 2-days per week to study a relevant HNC if appropriate and attend your workplace 3 days per week, 4th year you will be at your workplace 5-days per week to attain a relevant SVQ Level 3 (Sector Specific Pathway).
Access to private transport would be an advantage as you would attend Edinburgh College at Eskbank, Dalkeith 2-days per week in 1st & 2nd Year
